Army Commander features a character with a firearm that the player controls to gather money and launch campaigns to capture new locations. Money is used to fund campaigns that create new military bases where different forces can be summoned. Because only a limited number of characters appear, this battle is intriguing. Because of this, the structure must be built now. During battle, players direct their character by using intuitive swipes and taps. They can move around freely on the game screen to find safe zones to set up formations. Additionally, the game features locations that players can travel to. These locations feature special abilities that players must pay to use— though they must prioritize which factors they want to utilize in their battles.

When starting Army Commander, players receive a set amount of gold on their backs that they can use to purchase new bases. These bases can be used indefinitely without concern for summoning more troops. Within each base, players will see characters appearing that continuously increase until the player is ready to engage in combat. You're a vital character and must defend yourself while you battle. Your battle forces encounter each other when the number of units displayed on the graph is full. You have a firearm that you can use to eliminate opponents— but only when your forces meet in battle. You also have to gather the spoils of war dropped by the enemy— as well as additional funds for future army development — while pursuing victory at the same time. You can even target specific enemy groups and eliminate them. Killing enemies in one pass eliminates the stress of a short-term mission. Because of this, the number of units gained is limited. After the battle is finished, you wait in the area you occupied before starting a new battle. Each enemy unit destroyed — until just one flagpole remains — changes how color-coded levels progress over time.

In order to move to a new location in Army Commander, players must seize the territory of the last war. Doing this grants players additional resources with which to grow their army. Once a player finishes a war, they are taken to a new battlefield where new foes and environmental advantages await them. Additionally, this new location allows players to defeat enemies at a faster rate. Atomic bombs come in handy because they offer an interesting new tactic. They're already set up and you only need to switch the device to activate them. Some enemies won't stand a chance against atomic bombs. Certain enemy units disappear from the current map scene after a short delay. This allows you to use your force to eliminate them faster than usual. Envisioning other locations and battles deflects players' focus away from the present. At the end of a level, the player must capture the flagpole to complete their objective. This will lead them to a location with many enemies protecting it. The game's protagonist travels around the world collecting money. They use this cash to move to a new location and build a base that enables specific game features to be turned on. You decide when the fight with the warriors ends. Until then, they’ll keep appearing. To end the war, you need to take control of that territory and vanquish all its adversaries. At that point, you must also be strong enough to hoist the flag to victory. Before a new area's enemies are encountered, players find atomic bombs that can be used to defeat many enemies at once.
